4.9 How Can AI and Automation Be Integrated in School Based VET Programmes?
In the previous modules, you have already learned about the impact of AI on the world of work. But how can AI and automation be taken up in VET programs in schools?
As is often the case, there is not one perfect solution. The methods and approaches depend on the VET system in your country, but also on the subjects you teach and the professions you train for.
Here we present you an example from a german VET school. More information on that project you will get in the next unit.
Reflexion
- The topic of artificial intelligence is of social importance and holds many ethical discussions. Advantages and disadvantages, ethical questions, and future scenarios could be discussed in interdisciplinary subjects e.g. in politics lessons.
- Projects and so-called Learning and Working Tasks (LWT) can be one way of making teaching more action-oriented, combining theory and practice and thus promoting the development of learners’ skills. LWT are characterized by project-based, process- and task-oriented learning, which make use of problematic situations of professional reality. In our toolkit for teachers and trainers, you can find a guideline for the creation of learning and working tasks and a tool for the self-evaluation of completed learning and work tasks.
- To learn about new technologies VR or AR can be used to simulate practical training outside a workplace in school contexts
